Worship & Music

What Is True Worship?

Worship is meant for God, and at Rocky Hill Baptist Church, our highest priority is glorifying our Lord and Savior.  We believe worship should penetrate every area of our Christian walk and service.

Our desire is to produce and be disciples who have a passion for Christ and desire to live a lifestyle that glorifies God. Jesus seeks out those who worship in spirit and in truth.  We believe that if worship becomes a lifestyle and not just something we do on Sundays then we will become the kind of children God wants us to be.

Spiritually inspiring and emotionally uplifting praise and worship will consistently draw people to God.  The music ministry at RHBC plays an important role in helping the church focus our hearts and minds on God and to prepare our hearts and spirits to receive His Word.

Our purpose is to “Know, Grow and Go” – Know Jesus Christ, Grow in Jesus Christ and Go tell others about Jesus Christ.  Our Worship Ministry is vital in this process.  There are may areas for involvement in the worship ministry here at Rocky Hill, where God can use you to minister to the church and community. Whether your interest lies in singing in the choir, playing an instrument, working with our audio/visual equipment or just singing to Jesus with all your heart from the congregation, worship is for you! There is always room for more folks who want to serve the Lord with their time and talents.  Take a few minutes and look at the different opportunities listed below and contact Steven at the church office to find out how you can get involved.

The Choir
The choir is a dedicated group of believers who use their gift of voice to glorify the Lord. We exist to exalt and proclaim our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through music and to lead others in the congregation in uplifting, inspiring praise and worship. The Choir sings regularly in our Sunday Morning Service and also prepares and leads the church in special worship services throughout the year including Christmas and Easter musicals.

The Choir is a ministry and, like any ministry, choir members should feel  in their heart or spirit a desire to serve God through Rocky Hill's music ministry. Choir membership is open to Christians at least 15 years old who feel God's call to serve Him in this role. If you feel the desire to participate in the choir, contact Steven or the church office.

Soloists/Ensembles
Everyone is encouraged to share the gifts Christ has given them. If you have a musical gift, we encourage that you praise God with that gift, whether it be as a Soloist, Instrumentalist, or Ensemble Member.

 Instrumentalists
Organist Karen Hudson
Karen has been playing the organ for our Sunday morning services for over twenty years! Karen grew up right here in Rocky Hill Baptist Church and faithfully serves as a member of the Church Choir and occasional Soloist.

Pianist Debbie Hankins
Debbie began serving the church as our pianist in August of 2005. Debbie is a gifted musician whose leadership on the piano is always a great blessing.
We are always looking for people who can play any other instruments as well! If you are interested in serving in the worship and music ministry, let Steven know.

Sound Technicians
The un-sung heroes of any church music ministry are the folks who control the sound system. These people are just as vital to the success of the worship and music ministry as choir members and musicians. We are very fortunate to have a group of dedicated individuals who make sure that all the technical aspects of our services run smoothly.

CD Ministry
For those who are not able to worship with us on Sundays, we offer a way for them to remain a part of the services by delivering to them a CD of the pastor’s message as well as some of our live music.  Please contact the church office if you would like to be added to the list of those who receive a CD each week.
